What a feeling we have that this would never happen. 

She’s 18; he’s at least 20 years older.  We see two possibilities for these two: Scenario 1 – She becomes a famous dancer and gets the hell out of Pittsburgh, and they never see each other again.  Scenario 2 – She doesn’t become a famous dancer, but she does well enough in the local ballet and maybe they get married.  But it lasts 5 years tops. 

He’ll want kids; she won’t because she’s way too young and will still have hopes of making it big.  If she does get knocked up she’ll be miserable and resentful because it will mean the end of her dancing career and the beginning of her life of taking care of her young baby and old husband.  Maybe he was a renegade when he was younger but he’s settled and established now in Pittsburgh and he’s not going anywhere.  He’s definitely not the type to pull up stakes for his wife’s careeer, especially when she’s not even legal in PA.  She’s thinking bigger – she’s too independent not to want to strike out on her own and hopefully have some sort of life before she gets married.  He needs to marry someone his own age and have a kid, not date one.

We say if they do get married it’s just a matter of time before she’s throwing rocks through those windows from the inside.
