The Reel Thing

We watched this recently on cable and had forgotten how truly great it is. The movie is chock-full of funny, endearing characters and great dialogue – you don’t want to miss a moment. But does a perfect movie mean a perfect couple? In this case we say Si!

What are the chances that a couple will find true love when the man insults the woman the first time they meet? Excellent! At least if the couple is Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Yes, we know this isn’t a movie couple but come on – it’s the Royal Wedding! The first event like this in 30 years. And we are happy to award Will and Kate a very enthusiastic 5 Reels.

Given the fact that Jenny ‘s days are numbered, we agree completely with her decision to marry Forrest. In many ways her death is the only solution to their relationship: it gives her an excuse to finally give Forrest the one thing he’s always wanted.

Sooo…unless we’re mistaken the issue here is: Can a couple live happily ever after if the guy that has only a part of his brain activated? Umm…is that a trick question?

While we love the chemistry between Book and Rachel, we think they have a better chance of finding an honest cop in Philadelphia than they do of living happily ever.

This movie left us wishing we had Just Gone to see something else. We can’t decide which was more painful – sitting through it or having to relive it again by writing about it.

This was one movie ending that we thoroughly agreed with – and not because the couple got together, but because they didn’t. Jules Potter is way too selfish to be in a relationship with anyone.

They can fight; we’ll give them that. And for some couples that might be a bad thing but for these two we think it bodes well.

The Knightleys are long gone by now, but we feel quite safe in saying that their union was a happy and long-lasting one.
